About us

Nestled within the Sailing community at Weymouth & Portland Sailing Academy, we welcome everyone of all levels and abilities, aged 6 and above, to join us in the beautiful waters of Portland Harbour.

We offer an array of water & land-based activities that can be tailor made to fit your purpose.

If you require something different, need inspiration, or you’re a teacher looking to progress a class, our instructor team can facilitate your requirements using the wealth of experience & knowledge they’ve built on over the years.

Functioning as a multi- centre, we offer our activities to the local community. Within this community we have built strong relationships with customers, schools, scouts, cubs, youth groups, DoE, Dorset Council, NCS, and many more.

We also work tightly alongside Weymouth College, supporting their students in their search for outdoor/sport careers. In 2023, we are offering a new outdoor course which we’re more than thrilled to be part of.

One thing we’re highly recognised for is our seasonal Kids Club. Where we are based, it means we have an amazing opportunity to have tonnes of fun, ensuring everyone in the local area has access to the outdoors. By promoting programmes such as HAF (Holiday Activities & Food Programme), we hope to reach more children, providing support to families throughout school holidays.

Climbing is a huge passion for most of our instructors, so it is naturally one of our favourite activities. Using the cliffs of Portland, we venture out to the beautiful surrounding coastlines where we can provide unique outdoor climbing experiences. Raft building, sailing and paddle sports are the water activities we offer, each session jam packed with fun, ensuring there is something for everyone.

We cater for SEND participants. We utilise a bespoke water sports chair called an Aqua Bac, which supports posture allowing participants to access water activities they may never have tried before. Our fantastic instructors are experienced and excited to work with groups or individual’s that want an adventure to experience that they will never forget. We have access to the academy’s facilities including hoists, bespoke changing and washing facilities to make your visit as smooth as possible.

Come down, even if it’s to check out where the 2012 Olympics were held and have a tea/coffee at the academy – where we also have access to the free parking & changing rooms with hot showers which is perfect for post activities.
